Gaylon Dingler, a fourth generation Texan, has been teaching,
drawing and painting for over 40 years. He grew up in Tyler,
Texas, took private art lessons starting in the eighth grade, and later
earned a BA at North Texas State University and an MA at
The University of Texas at Tyler. "I am thankful for receiving a
degree from NTSU since a degree in art education enabled me to
take courses not only in drawing, painting, and design, but also
opened paths to sculpture, weaving, ceramics, jewelry, printmaking,
and calligraphy." After retiring from the teaching profession in 2000
he has devoted his time to painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics
full time. He has written and published articles on ceramic
techniques including the Indian stones and bottles. His art is in
private collections throughout the United States.
"I enjoy making things. I enjoy making art. My favorite mediums are
pencil and clay. Currently, I am experimenting with abstract painting
and design along with my traditional techniques. One of my goals
was to be accepted and successful in many fields of art. When I
make a piece of art, I hope others will appreciate it too."
Gaylon Dingler enjoys bicycling, the outdoors, history, animals,
wildlife management, and making art. He spends many happy hours
on his farm at New York..... New York, Texas that is.
